Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Group 22-24 weeks
This evidence based group teaches coping skills to manage stressors. The foundation is based on 4 core modules: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional dysregulation and interpersonal effectiveness. The core mindfulness skills involve states of mind including emotional mind, reasonable mind and wise mind. Interpersonal effectiveness aims to address break downs in interpersonal communication and teach effective communication skills and assertiveness training. The emotional dysregulation aims to help reduce unwanted emotions and reduce vulnerability to them by providing psychoeducation. The Distress Tolerance aims to promote acceptance of things that cannot be changed. These modules work together to teach skills that aim to promote self-awareness and improve emotional regulation, as well as improve decision making skills and assertive communication skills.
Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MiCBT) Group: 8-10 weeks
This evidence based group teaches mindfulness skills using cognitive behavioral therapy to help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression which has been effective in helping patients with chronic medical conditions. MiCBT is delivered in four stages. The Personal Stage (1) focuses on increasing self-awareness regarding emotional reactions. The Exposure Stage (2) focuses on behavior regulation which integrates mindfulness meditation. The Interpersonal Stage (3) emphasizes mindfulness-based interpersonal skills. The Empathic Stage (4) helps to improve regulation through an integration of mindfulness, compassion and overall improvement in quality of life and well-being. This group aims to help reduce negative thoughts, increase mind and body awareness and improve emotional regulation.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) 8 weeks
These evidence based group teaches stress management strategies to help manage anxiety by increasing awareness between the mind and body, using mindfulness techniques, such as yoga and meditation.
